DESCRIPTION:In 2026\, Andalusia Historic House\, Gardens & Arboretum will present new works by artists Sophie Glenn and Jody Graff. While Glenn recreates traditional furniture designs using steel\, Graff makes stunning abstract compositions from pressed leaves. For this exhibition\, both artists will take their inspiration from Andalusia’s historic and natural collections. \n\n\n\nRadical Americana\, a series of exhibitions organized by The Clay Studio and other arts and cultural institutions in the Philadelphia area\, highlights contemporary artists working with craft materials\, such as wood\, clay\, fiber\, glass\, and metal. \n\n\n\nThe influential year of 1776\, and the subsequent commemorations in Philadelphia in the years 1876\, 1926\, and 1976\, will serve as points of research for these artists to gain inspiration and add their voices to current dialogue about our nation’s present and future. \n\n\n\nRadical Americana is part of ArtPhilly and a collaboration with Philly250.

SUMMARY:Revolutionary Family: The Biddles & American Independence
DESCRIPTION:This new special exhibition\, timed to coincide with the nation’s semiquincentennial\, will present historical art and documents exploring the lives of the extended Biddle family during the 1770s\, marking the first time this important moment in history has been explored at Andalusia. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition will consider the influential roles that Biddle family members played during the Revolution\, the impact of the Revolution on family members whose descendants later lived at Andalusia\, and wartime activities at or near the pre-Andalusia site. By emphasizing personal stories and the relationships that bond families\, the display will bring intimate\, relatable perspectives to this critical moment in American history through fascinating manuscripts and objects from both Andalusia’s archives and partner institutions across Philadelphia. \n\n\n\nRevolutionary Family will spotlight eight family members—all siblings\, first cousins\, spouses\, or parents—active in early American government\, military\, science\, and society. One branch of the family includes Clement\, Deputy Quartermaster General for the Continental Army and a close advisor to George Washington; his wife\, Rebekah\, who accompanied him to Valley Forge\, Brandywine\, and other army encampments; and his brother Owen\, a scientist and active member of the Committee of Safety. Another branch includes brothers Edward\, a delegate to the First and Second Continental Congress; James\, an active Committee of Safety member and Justice of the Peace; Nicholas\, a Captain in the Continental Navy; Charles\, a Captain in the Merchant Service and later Vice President of Pennsylvania; and John\, a surveyor exiled to Nova Scotia for his Loyalist ties. Mary\, the matriarch of the large Biddle family line that included James\, John\, Edward\, Charles\, and Nicholas\, was an editor and seller of early map of the Philadelphia region. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition will also explore what happened at the Andalusia site during the time of the Revolution. Although Andalusia was not established as an estate until the 1790s\, the tract of land was farmed throughout the 1770s and abutted the old King’s Highway along its north border\, which was a major thoroughfare for Continental and British troop movements throughout the war\, while Andalusia’s southern border\, the Delaware River\, saw significant naval activity.

DESCRIPTION:The first Saturday of each month is Open House. This month there will be colonial toys highlighted as the extra activity. \n\n\n\nNote: Morrisville’s annual Easter Egg Hunt will occur next to Summerseat from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm in Patriot’s Park. The basement of Summerseat will be open to families free of charge during the Easter Egg hunt. There will be a free historical craft for children age 2-5 and for age 6-10 and a free giveaway for children as long as supplies last. \n\n\n\nFamilies with children who attend the Open House will be allowed to tour the rest of the building and will be allowed to see the colonial toys. There is a fee: Children under age 12 are free\, Youth age 12-18 are $5.00\, and Adults $10.00. Children must be accompanied by an adult to tour the rest of the building during Open House.

DESCRIPTION:“Over Here\, Molly Pitcher: Stories of a Woman of the Army in the American Revolution” is a storytelling presentation about Mary Hays McCauley\, the plucky woman who assisted her husband and his artillery crew during the Battle of Monmouth\, June 28\, 1778. Her tales are related from the perspective of 1822\, the year she receives a pension for her service from the State of Pennsylvania. Molly\, attired in her Revolutionary War attire and armed with the material remnants of her service\, touches upon the topics of what happened to the veterans of the Revolution AFTER the war\, as well as her adventures from the time of her husband’s enlistment to the Battle of Monmouth – and her exciting day of battle.

DESCRIPTION:The Tri-County Band of Feasterville is a community concert band that performs at many summer concerts\, senior communities\, and parades though out the Delaware Valley. he band started in 1950 with a small group of musicians at the Feasterville Fire Company and today the band has grown to more than 50 members. We rehearse on Monday nights at our band hall and are always welcoming new members.
