SUMMARY:The Other Crossings
DESCRIPTION:The Many Crossings of the Delaware River in December 1776. \n\n\n\nMost people have at least heard about General George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River on Christmas night 1776\, but there is much more to the story.Author and historian William (Larry) Kidder will present an enlightening program about the almost daily Delaware River crossings by Washington’s troops during the month leading up to the famous crossing and several crossings after the Battle of Trenton. Local militia troops stationed in the Yardley area played a large role in these crossings as the Yardley ferry. \n\n\n\nThis expanded story will allow a better understanding of what made the Christmas crossing so important and the victory at Trenton possible.

SUMMARY:The Threads of Revolution
DESCRIPTION:The 18th century presented one of the finest eras of fashion that history has to offer; it also hosted one of the more tumultuous conflicts that would greatly define the future of the textile industry in America. The boycott of English goods would not only instigate the beginning of the Revolutionary War\, but the defiance of the patriots would stir one of the largest examples of fashion statements out of resentment for the King and his taxes. It is rarely recognized that the Revolutionary War was not only fought on the battlefields\, but in the market\, on the streets\, in the home and on the body. Join speaker Nicole Frederick to learn the intricacies of the textile industry of the day and how textiles became tools of patriotism that defined and valued a nation’s loyalty to Freedom.
