9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

September 11, 2025 @ 8:30 am 9:30 am

On September 11, 2001 our country was forever changed by a series of unprecedented events. That day many lost their lives in a series of targeted attacks at The World Trade Center in New York City, The Pentagon in Washington DC, and an open field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Eighteen residents of Bucks County including nine from Lower Makefield Township were among those lost during these attacks. The Garden of Reflection will host a morning ceremony to commemorate the tragic day marking the chronological events. The ceremony will commence at 8:30AM and conclude within an hour followed by a period of reflection. The community is invited to walk the memorial on a self-guided tour during the day and night.

The Official Pennsylvania Memorial to the Victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks
The Garden of Reflection 9-11 Memorial was created to remember and honor our loved ones and all 2,977 killed on September 11, 2001. It is situated in Memorial Park amid the natural beauty of Historical Bucks County farmland in Lower Makefield Township.

The Memorial designed by Yardley architect Liuba Lashchyk AIA invites us on a walking Memorial Journey symbolizing “After Darkness…Light”. This Memorial Journey leads from sorrowful reminders of tragedy and grief towards luminous symbols of Hope, Peace and Celebration of Life.

The Garden is a physical homage to the 2,973 lives we lost, with special recognition of the 18 Bucks County Victims. Within the 62-acre Memorial Park, The Garden occupies 2.5 acres surrounded by a 2-acre Oak Garden Arboretum. Construction of the memorial was completed in time for a dedication ceremony on the fifth anniversary of September 11, 2001; an honorable feat for an honorable tribute.
