As the nation looks ahead to 2026 and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Pennsylvania is leading the way in commemorating this historic milestone. America250PA—Pennsylvania’s official Commission charged with planning the state’s Semiquincentennial celebration—is fueling this effort with a major investment in communities across the Commonwealth. Thanks to generous support from Governor Josh Shapiro and the Pennsylvania Legislature, America250PA is awarding $1 million in grant funding through its 2024–25 Semiquincentennial Grants.
The America250PA Semiquincentennial Grants provide funding in increments of $5,000, $10,000, and $20,000. Eligible applicants include Pennsylvania municipalities, counties, and registered nonprofits. These funds support up to 50% of total project costs and must align with one or more of A250PA’s four core themes. These grants are designed to support and elevate the events, projects, and programming that will bring Pennsylvanians together to Educate, Preserve, Innovate, and Celebrate the spirit of 1776 and the incredible progress we’ve made since.
The Commission prioritizes collaborative efforts, programs that engage the public meaningfully, and projects that connect to Pennsylvania’s unique role in our nation’s founding and future. Projects funded during the first round must be completed by July 31, 2026. We’re thrilled to report that Bucks County is well represented among the first-round recipients, with four exciting local initiatives earning a combined $65,000 in funding.
Bucks County Grant Recipients – Round 1

Friends of Washington Crossing Park– $20,000
The iconic annual reenactment of General George Washington’s daring 1776 crossing of the Delaware River will receive expanded support. The 2025 event promises to be bigger and more engaging than ever, inviting visitors from near and far to reflect on the courage and legacy of the Revolutionary War.
Bucks County Children’s Museum– $20,000
“George’s Inn 1776: An Interactive Experience at the Bucks County Children’s Museum” will bring young visitors face-to-face with history. Through immersive, hands-on exhibits, children will explore colonial life and the origins of American independence in a setting designed just for them.

Gather Place Museum– $20,000
In Yardley Borough, Gather Place will launch “Celebrating 250 Years of American Resilience – A Legacy of Justice and Equality.” This powerful exhibit and programming series will spotlight the local and national contributions of Black Americans and underserved communities in the ongoing fight for equality.
Durham Historical Society– $5,000
The Historic Durham Furnace and Durham Boat Restoration and Signage Project will enhance a vital piece of our transportation and industrial history. Restoring these artifacts helps preserve the tools and technologies that powered the Revolution and early American industry

We’re incredibly proud to see Bucks County leading the way in honoring the past and inspiring future generations. Through these projects and programs, our community is ensuring that the story of America—and Pennsylvania’s essential role in it—is remembered, retold, and reimagined for 2026 and beyond.
